The Art of Releasing, NYE-Style

Release THIS before setting your NYE Resolutions! 

New Year’s Eve is always an interesting time for many. We often look at our past year with scrutiny, sometimes with awe, and look forward to this blank page as an opportunity to FINALLY live the life we’ve been hoping we would for years.
We see this blank page as the one chance we have to make those changes, to actually be that person. And while this can be an incredible sense of reflection and peace, it can also be incredibly frustrating.
How many times have you set New Years Resolutions only to fail them by the 2nd week in January? Or sign up for a new class or membership only to ignore it after the 5th day?
Human Beings are not designed to simply say once, “I want this” and then receive it. You need to create an entire lifestyle that supports these desires and needs that you have. You need to surround yourself with support and encouragement for those days when you’re bound to want to give up and give in. And most importantly you need to understand WHY you want to achieve these goals! Without this knowledge of WHY, you might as well leave the resolutions behind.
As I was pondering about New Years this year, after such an emotionally bizarre Christmas Holiday, I was thinking of each of you and what this new year may bring to you. I considered what each of you may be seeking in life, what currently feels a bit unsatisfying or stagnant and maybe what it is that you’re hoping to receive more of. While only you know the answers to these questions, I still wanted to create some space for you to be acknowledged and appreciated 😉
In my moments of thinking of you, I came up with this request.
This new years eve, instead of focusing all your intention on what you want MORE OF, can we first take a moment to consider what you’re hoping to RELEASE!?
It’s a bit of unique concept for some of you I know, but trust me – it’s one worth trying!
When you consider your life and simply think of all the beauty and fitness and food and fun that you want to achieve in the coming year – you are subconsciously working to manifest all of these things.
But when you have not done any clearing and releasing work; the work that allows you to release old patterns and habits, you are actually just slapping new shiny paper on top of an old used notepad. There isn’t actually any space to invite in these new experiences – you simply are covering up that which you don’t want with images and thoughts of what you do.
So in order to truly prepare your body, your mind and your subconscious mind for the true power of manifesting the life of your dreams, let us first begin with the Art of Releasing.

New Year – New Release

Ask yourself this;
On this eve of 2016, I am ready to release _______________.
Perhaps it’s your desperate need to be included in every social activity, or maybe your incessant judgement of your weight. Maybe you’re ready to release the rude and sometimes hurtful comments you make to your partner when you’re hungry. Perhaps it’s the way you allow others to dictate your schedule instead of honouring your personal goals & needs. Or maybe it’s simply the act of always DOING.
Whatever it is that you are ready to release, it will come to you when you give it the space.
I really really want you to take this exercise seriously and follow through with your releasing act. So please honour yourself and take a moment to become quiet in your body and your mind and ask yourself;
On this eve of 2016, I am ready to release ______________.

Goal Setting Worksheets

On our drive back to our beautiful, snowy small town from our Christmas Holiday in the big city, Luke and I talked and talked and TALKED about this new year and what we want to accomplish. We always make time to recognize the amazingness of the year just passed, but we also make space and time to explore what the new year will bring for us.

With both of us being entrepreneurs it’s incredibly important to get clear on what we want to ACHIEVE – otherwise 6 months will fly by and we’re still craving that accomplishment.

But even if you’re the furthest thing from an entrepreneur, setting attainable and soulful goals will propel you forward into this new year. These goals can be as big as purchasing a house or moving cities, or it can be as individual as having an apple each day for your 3pm snack. Whatever matters to you is what you need to work towards.

Below I’ve attached a few downloadable worksheets* for you to use to get clear on what you ACTUALLY want to accomplish in 2016 – and how to make sure you do so.

Before you move forward with the amazingness that 2016 holds for you, take three minutes to reflect on your 2015:

  • consider all the things that you are proud of

  • consider the things that you found challenging but came out successful

  • consider the things that you are excited to change for 2016
