ITS OKAY TO WANT TO BE HAPPY //

Let’s face it, it has become a societal norm to complain about basically everything in life in order to fit in. We complain about our jobs, our coworkers, our weight, our partners, our income, our lack of holidays…even how they got out latte wrong yet AGAIN at the coffee shop.

I used to think that I was supposed to be “unhappy” in order to fit in and be seemingly “happy”…and so I would try. I got the regular job, I spent all my money, I tried living pay cheque to pay cheque, racking up debt…but none of it made me happy. I tried to fit in by having the right clothes, going to all the cool events, doing all the things that would allow me to “fit in” with society….and yet all I was doing was complaining…with people. Is this what happiness is?

My partner Luke and I being silly at a wedding a few years ago

The fact is….

IT’S OKAY TO BE HAPPY!

IT’S OKAY TO BE HEALTHY!

IT’S OKAY TO BE IN LOVE WITH YOUR LIFE!!

There are a select few of us that are aware of this backwards culture we’ve created and it’s time we let the rest of society in on this little secret. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE UNHAPPY TO FIT IN. You simply need to be yourself. And if being yourself means quitting your job and trying a new one for the 10th time, or bringing your healthy vegan homemade meals to the office party, or quitting drinking for 6 months even though you’re to “addicted”, or choosing to spend Friday nights at home in your pj’s with Netflix and your cat….THAT’S OKAY! If these things make you happy, then why are you putting other people’s acceptance and approval above your own happiness?

Why are you allowing yourself to be affected by their judgements…or sometimes not even judgements, simply your belief that they MAY silently be judging you. Have some faith in humanity, have some faith in your community and have some faith in yourself.

You are an amazing human being who has as much wisdom inside your body as the Dali Lama. You are cut from the same cloth as Mother Teresa. You are capable of healing the world in any and every way that you can imagine…IF you believe in yourself.

So please, stop making choices based on the approval of others.

Stop putting other people’s acceptance in front of your own health & happiness needs.

Stop allowing yourself to be a slave to our backwards societal norms.

I’ve done it, so can you!

But the secret is, I didn’t do it alone. I had a community of support. Not the societal community that I had when I first acknowledged this desire to change…it was the community I created for myself.

I hired a Health Coach to get my food, my mood and my mindset on track.

I enlisted my partner to be my support, to call me out when I was dipping back into my old ways and to stand by me as I tried new things.

I journaled, daily, exploring my thoughts and feelings around these shifts and changes.

I invited in new friends, women that I already knew, but had never seen in this new, open, accepting and Holistic way. I began seeing them as my strength, my support and my mirrors. They showed me ways that I could heal and grow, and celebrated with me as I did.

And what do I have to show for it now?

I am HAPPY.
I am HEALTHY.
I have a stable, steady & healthy weight.
I exercise for the joy of it, not to agonize over how my body looks.
I eat foods that feel good in my body, and don’t fret over when I don’t.
I make time for people in my life that lift me up, and limit my time with those that bring me down.
I have quiet time, alone, just for me, and it feels GOOD!
I’ve become supported by my staff team – bringing me sushi for my birthday instead of a cake.
I spend more time outdoors and I feel no guilt around it.
I go to yoga multiple times a week and schedule it into my work days.
I spend money on myself for things that feed my soul; natural skin care, holistic health foods, life coaches, online mindset programs, gifts for every occasion, clothes that I feel sexy in
I see each challenge that comes my way as an opportunity to grow.
I read, I meditate, I laugh, I play, I eat, I sleep, I work, I create, I chat, I make love, I rest, I feel GOOD.

So, if you were to ask me how you could get yourself to this place of content and peace inside of you, I would reply with two steps:

  1. Hire someone to support you, hold you accountable, be your mirror and evoke your inner wisdom (click here for more on this)
  2. Practice being okay with wanting to be happy

The Art of Releasing, NYE-Style

Release THIS before setting your NYE Resolutions!

New Year’s Eve is always an interesting time for many. We often look at our past year with scrutiny, sometimes with awe, and look forward to this blank page as an opportunity to FINALLY live the life we’ve been hoping we would for years.

We see this blank page as the one chance we have to make those changes, to actually be that person. And while this can be an incredible sense of reflection and peace, it can also be incredibly frustrating.

How many times have you set New Years Resolutions only to fail them by the 2nd week in January? Or sign up for a new class or membership only to ignore it after the 5th day?

Human Beings are not designed to simply say once, “I want this” and then receive it. You need to create an entire lifestyle that supports these desires and needs that you have. You need to surround yourself with support and encouragement for those days when you’re bound to want to give up and give in. And most importantly you need to understand WHY you want to achieve these goals! Without this knowledge of WHY, you might as well leave the resolutions behind.

As I was pondering about New Years this year, after such an emotionally bizarre Christmas Holiday, I was thinking of each of you and what this new year may bring to you. I considered what each of you may be seeking in life, what currently feels a bit unsatisfying or stagnant and maybe what it is that you’re hoping to receive more of. While only you know the answers to these questions, I still wanted to create some space for you to be acknowledged and appreciated 😉

In my moments of thinking of you, I came up with this request.

This new years eve, instead of focusing all your intention on what you want MORE OF, can we first take a moment to consider what you’re hoping to RELEASE!?

It’s a bit of unique concept for some of you I know, but trust me – it’s one worth trying!

When you consider your life and simply think of all the beauty and fitness and food and fun that you want to achieve in the coming year – you are subconsciously working to manifest all of these things.

But when you have not done any clearing and releasing work; the work that allows you to release old patterns and habits, you are actually just slapping new shiny paper on top of an old used notepad. There isn’t actually any space to invite in these new experiences – you simply are covering up that which you don’t want with images and thoughts of what you do.

So in order to truly prepare your body, your mind and your subconscious mind for the true power of manifesting the life of your dreams, let us first begin with the Art of Releasing.

New Year – New Release

Ask yourself this;

On this eve of 2016, I am ready to release _______________.

Perhaps it’s your desperate need to be included in every social activity, or maybe your incessant judgement of your weight. Maybe you’re ready to release the rude and sometimes hurtful comments you make to your partner when you’re hungry. Perhaps it’s the way you allow others to dictate your schedule instead of honouring your personal goals & needs. Or maybe it’s simply the act of always DOING.

Whatever it is that you are ready to release, it will come to you when you give it the space.

I really really want you to take this exercise seriously and follow through with your releasing act. So please honour yourself and take a moment to become quiet in your body and your mind and ask yourself;

On this eve of 2016, I am ready to release ______________.

Much love and gratitude to each of you this Holiday Season!

Healing Adrenal Fatigue with Essential Oils

Young and beautiful businesswoman tired from work in the office.

Adrenal Fatigue and emotion exhaustion are such strong contenders when it comes to feeling run down! If you are suffering from burnout, my number one suggestion is to ensure you have an outlet.

This outlet may be a dark, quiet space where you can zone out for 20 minutes or it may be talking to your Health or Business Coach about your feelings rather than your goals. It may be going for a run outside in the brisk fresh air and feeling your cardiovascular endurance strengthening!

Whatever your outlet looks like, UTILIZE IT!

When you are facing a burnout situation, especially as an entrepreneur, you NEED to release all that stagnant, heavy & bleh energy. You need to get things moving through your system so you can release it and open up pathways to invite more in! Explore what outlets you have already; possibly you love to talk/write/sing/draw/day dream…whatever it may be. Somewhere that you can open up, truly be you and feel fully expressed. I find fatigue often stems from holding ourselves back. Once we feel fully expressed, we lighten and feel energized.

And if you’re an essential oil lover and want to bring in some holistic healing oils, try my personal favourite blend of energizing oils; Eucalyptus and Grapefruit. These two oils together will lift your mood, lighten your body and support you with concentration & focus.

Franckinsence is beautiful for spiritually grounding yourself, which will lead to a sense of calm and internal strength.

Geranium is a really beautiful emotional balancer, try this in your diffuser and see how you feel with it.

And lastly, assess your personal balance…allow yourself the space and acceptance to feel all emotions. It’s okay to have an off day where you are a bit grumpy or unmotivated. You need that. It is allowing your body to rest, to repair and to prepare for bigger things that are on your horizon. Consider those days as the alternative to getting a nasty cold and being forced to spend time in bed.

With social media…take days away from it. Choose to ignore it. Spend a day with your uninfluenced thoughts…see what’s going on deep in your subconscious. It’s a great technology detox!!

Any type of burnout or fatigue is your body’s way of speaking to you. Honour it as an opportunity to connect deeper into yourself. Refrain from seeing it as a weakness and consider it an asset. Congratulate yourself on being internally connected enough to take the time to do what your body needs!!

If you need some support in finding clarity on what your body needs, I would love to offer you the gift of utter love and accountability doted on you personally, so you can fill up your love tank and begin to thrive!

My gift is available starting November 1st and if you are one of the first three people to say “YES, I DESERVE THIS” and register, I’ll have $600 worth of gorgeous freebies & bonuses to give you as well. Click here to be one of these individuals!!

Because my dear, you are worth it! teal heart small
